[Narrator]: Dad took Kipper to the library and Kipper was very excited to choose books by himself.
아빠가 키퍼를 도서관에 데려가자 키퍼는 스스로 책을 고를 생각을 하니 신이 났어요.
[Kipper]: So excited.
신난다.
[Dad]: Choose your books.
읽고 싶은 책들을 고르렴.

[Narrator]: Kipper browsed through the shelves look at all the exciting books in the children’s corner.
키퍼는 어린이 코너에서 선반 위에 있는 재미있는 책들을 둘러보았어요.
[Dad]: Off you go, Kipper.
가서 책 봐, 키퍼.
[Kipper]: Wow!

[Narrator]: Kipper took every single book he liked and put it in a pile beside one of the chairs.
키퍼는 좋아하는 책들을 골라 의자 옆에 쌓아두었어요.
[Kipper]: I’m reading a book!

[Narrator]: Kipper had so many books to bring home.
키퍼는 집에 가져갈 많은 책을 골랐어요.
[Dad]: Decide quickly, Kipper.
빨리 골라야 해, 키퍼.
[Kipper]: I want all of these!

[Narrator]: In the end, Dad helped Kipper to choose four books.
결국에는, 아빠의 도움으로 키퍼는 4권의 책을 고를 수 있었어요.
[Kipper]: I will read them all tonight.

[Dad]: Oh, can you?

This story is about the day that Dad took Kipper to the library to get some new books to read.
아빠와 키퍼가 읽을 책을 빌리기 위해 간 도서관에서 일어나는 이야기 입니다.
Now, let’s go back to the first page of this book.
이제, 이 책의 첫 번째 장으로 돌아가 보아요.

[Narrator]: It was Dad’s turn to take Kipper to the library. Oh dear. Some of these books should have been taken back at least a week ago. I’ll have to pay a fine. Kipper liked the library because today he will choose some books all by himself. Dad handed his books in and paid fine to the librarian.
오늘은 아빠가 키퍼를 데리고 도서관에 가는 날입니다. 오 이런. 책 몇 권을 적어도 일주일 전에 반납했어야 했네요. 벌금을 내야겠어요. 오늘 키퍼는 스스로 책을 고를 것이기에 도서관에 가는 것이 기대되었어요. 아빠가 책을 반납하고 사서에게 벌금을 냈어요.

[Narrator]: ‘Off you go, then, Kipper,’ said Dad. ‘You choose some books for yourself, and I’ll go and choose some for Mum and me.’ Kipper browsed through the shelves looking at all the exciting books in the children’s corner. ‘Wow!’ said Kipper to himself. ‘There are loads and loads of books to choose from.’
이제 책 보러 가보거라 키퍼,’ 아빠가 말했어요. ‘네가 읽고 싶은 것을 골라. 아빤 아빠 엄마가 읽을 책을 고를 테니.’ 키퍼는 어린이 코너에서 선반 위에 있는 재미있는 책들을 둘러보았어요. ‘와!’ 키퍼는 혼자 말했어요. ‘고를 수 있는 책이 정말 많네.’

[Narrator]: Soon Kipper was busy looking at the books on the shelves. Then he took every single book he liked and put it in a pile beside one of the chairs. Then he sat down and began looking at them- one by one. Soon, the floor all round him was covered in books.
키퍼는 선반 위에 책들을 보느라 정신이 없었어요. 그리고 좋아하는 책들을 의자 옆에 쌓아두었어요. 그리고 앉아서 책을 하나씩 보기 시작했어요. 곧 키퍼 주위는 책으로 가득해졌어요.

[Narrator]: When Dad had chosen a book for himself and a book for Mum, he told Kipper it was almost time to go. ‘Decide quickly, Kipper,’ he said looking at all the books Kipper had spread out over the floor, ‘and make sure you put the rest of the books back on the right shelves.’ But Kipper couldn’t decide. ‘I think I will take all of these.’ said Kipper.
아빠가 아빠와 엄마가 읽을 책을 골랐을 때, 키퍼에게 이제 갈 시간이라고 말했어요. ‘빨리 골라라, 키퍼’ 그는 키퍼가 바닥에 어질러 놓은 책들을 보며 말했어요. ‘그리고 남은 책들은 제자리에 가져다 놓는 것을 잊지 말고.’ 그러나 키퍼는 아직 결정하지 못했어요. ‘ 이거 다 빌리고 싶은데….’ 키퍼가 말했어요.

[Narrator]: The librarian told Dad and Kipper that children are only allowed to have three books at a time. In the end, Dad helped Kipper to choose three books, but that wasn’t easy, because Kipper got the pile down to four, and then couldn’t decide which one of the four to put back. “Well, normally I can take out six books. I’ve only got two, so I’ll take out one for you on my ticket-and that way you can have four books this time. And that way we can get home in time for dinner!’
사서가 아이들은 한번에 3권씩만 빌려갈 수 있다고 아빠와 키퍼에게 말했어요. 결국, 아빠가 키퍼가 3권을 고를 수 있도록 도와줬지만, 쉽지 않았어요. 키퍼가 4권을 골랐지만 4권중 어떤 책을 뺄지 결정하는 것은 어려웠어요. “ 음, 아빠는 한번에 6권을 고를 수 있단다. 아빤 2권을 골랐으니 아빠가 네 대신 한 권을 더 빌리면 이번에는 네가 책 4권을 모두 가져갈 수 있어. 그럼 우린 저녁시간에 늦지 않겠지!”
