What’s this story about? (어떤 이야기 일까요?)
The children get up and get dressed extra early because it is a special day. They want to give Dad a surprise birthday.
아이들이 일찍 일어나서 옷을 갈아입었어요. 왜냐하면 오늘은 특별한 날이거든요. 아이들은 아빠에게 깜짝 놀래게 할 생일날을 만들고 싶어해요.
Talk Together (다 함께 이야기해 봅시다.)
Read the title and look at the picture. Ask, “What is Kipper doing? What is Teddy doing? Do you stretch before you get up in the morning? What do you do next? Do you get yourself dressed, or do you need help?”
제목을 읽고 그림을 보며 물어보세요. “키퍼가 무엇을 하고 있니? 테디 인형은 무엇을 하고 있니?
너는 아침에 일어나기 전에 기지개를 하니? 그 다음에 무엇을 하니? 혼자 옷을 갈아 입을 수 있니 아니면 누가 도와주어야 하니?”
Read the story (이야기를 읽어보세요.)
W = Word recognition (단어인지) C = Language comprehension (언어이해)
• Let the child hold the book and show him/her how to turn the pages carefully.
아이가 책을 잡도록 하고 어떻게 페이지를 넘겨야 하는지 보여주세요.
C: Talk about each picture. Page 1, ask, “What did Kipper do first?” Page 2, ask, “What did he do next? What are Biff and Chip doing?”
각 그림에 대해 이야기 해보고 물어보세요. 1페이지, “키퍼가 첫 번째로 무엇을 했니?” 2페이지, “그 다음에 무엇을 했니? 비프와 칩은 무엇을 하고 있니?”
C: Pages 4 and 5, ask, “Why were Biff and Chip quicker than Kipper?”

W: Page 8, read the banner to find out why the children had got up early. Can the child sound out any of the letters in ‘Happy Birthday Dad’?

C: Ask, “Do you think it was a good surprise? Why?”

C: Let the child tell you the story again from the beginning.

Play a game(게임 하기)
Find the clothes (옷 찾아보기)
To help the child practice naming different types of clothing.
아이가 다른 종류의 옷들의 이름을 알 수 있도록 도와줍니다.
ㆍChoose a piece of clothing from one of the pictures.
그림 중에서 하나의 옷을 고르세요.
ㆍGive the book to the child and say, “Can you find a vest (scarf, sock, T-shirt, etc.) in any of the pictures?”
아이에게 책을 주고 물어보세요. “그림들 중에서 조끼를 찾아보겠니?”
ㆍThe child then asks you to find a piece of clothing.
그리고 나서 아이들이 여러분에게 옷을 찾아보게 합니다.
ㆍHave two or three turns each. Sometimes use things that are harder to find, such as a tie (on the post lady) or a cap.
2~3번씩 돌아가면서 해보세요. 가끔은 넥타이 혹은 모자와 같이 찾기 어려운 물건을 이용해 보세요.

You can use these ideas straight away, or on another day.
이 방법은 바로 사용 해도 되고, 다른 날 해도 됩니다.
ㆍHave a ‘getting dressed challenge’. Provide the child with some dressing up clothes and see how quickly he/she can put them on.
‘옷 빨리 갈아입기’ 게임을 해보세요. 여러 종류의 옷을 준비해 놓고 아이들이 얼마나 빨리 옷들을 갈아 입을 수 있는지 해보는 게임입니다.
ㆍLook through clothes catalogues. Name different types of clothes and say which you both like or dislike.
옷과 관련된 잡지를 보세요. 그리고 서로 다른 종류의 옷의 이름을 말해보고 서로 좋아하는 옷과 싫어하는 옷에 대해 이야기해 보세요.
