What’s this story about? (어떤 이야기 일까요?)
Kipper is hoping for a story in bed with Dad and Mum. Then Chip and Biff squeeze in. But when Floppy jumps on the bed it is just too much and the bed falls down!
키퍼는 침대에서 아빠와 엄마랑 책을 보고 싶었어요. 그리고 나서 칩과 비프도 들어왔어요. 그러나 플로피가 침대로 뛰어 올라오자 침대가 밑으로 가라앉았어요!
Talk Together (다 함께 이야기해 봅시다.)
Read the title. Look at Dad and the alarm clock in the picture. Ask, “What do you think he is thinking? Does he want to get up?” Talk about what you think might happen in the story.
제목을 읽으세요. 그림 속의 아빠와 알람 시계를 보고 물어보세요. “아빠가 무슨 생각을 하고 있는 것 같니? 아빠가 일어나고 싶어 하니?” 이야기 속에서 무슨 일이 일어날지 이야기해 보세요.
Read the story (이야기를 읽어보세요.)
W = Word recognition (단어인지) C = Language comprehension (언어이해)
W: Page 1, find the page number, then read words together. Ask the child to point to each word as you read.
1 페이지를 찾고 같이 단어들을 읽어보세요. 여러분이 읽으면 아이에게 그 단어를 가리켜 보라고 하세요.
C: Ask, “What is Kipper holding? What do you think he wants?”
물어보세요, “키퍼가 무엇을 갖고 있니? 키퍼는 무엇을 원하는 것 같니?”
W: Page 2, look at the words and read them together. Get the child to notice how the order of the names from left to right matches the order of the characters in the bed.
2페이지의 단어를 보고 같이 읽어보세요. 아이에게 왼쪽에서 오른쪽의 순서로 침대에 있는 캐릭터들과 연결 시켜 보라고 하세요.
W: Page 4, ask the child to tell you whether the names are in the same order as the people in the bed.
4페이지에서, 아이에게 이름과 침대에 있는 사람들의 순서와 같은지 물어보세요.
C: Ask, “What do you think Biff was thinking?”
물어보세요, “비프는 무슨 생각을 하고 있는 것 같니?”
C: Page 6, ask, “How many are in the bed now? What do you think will happen if Floppy sits on the bed?”
6페이를 보고 물어보세요. “지금 침대에는 몇 명이 있지? 만약 플로피가 침대 위에 앉으면 무슨 일이 벌어질 것 같니?”
C: Page 8, ask, “Were you right?”

Play a game(게임하기)
How many times? (몇 번?)
To help the child to find and read words.
아이가 단어를 찾고 읽을 수 있게 도와줍니다.
ㆍChoose any word in the story. Ask the child to find out how many times it is written in the book. You could say, “How many times can you find ‘Mum’?”
이야기 속에서 아무 단어를 고르세요. 아이에게 그 단어가 책에서 몇 번이나 쓰였는지 물어보세요. 이렇게 물어보세요, “How many times can you find ‘Mum’? (‘Mum’은 몇 번이나 나왔니?)
ㆍThe child counts the number of times the word appears.
아이는 그 단어가 몇 번 나왔는지 세워 보세요.
ㆍThen the child asks you to find a different word as many times as you can.
그리고 나서 아이가 여러분에게 다른 단어들은 몇 번씩 나왔는지 물어봅니다.
ㆍFind out if one word appears more often than all the others.
한 단어가 다른 단어보다 더 많이 쓰였는지 찾아보세요.
Other ideas(다른방법)
You can use these ideas straight away, or on another day.
이 방법은 바로 사용 해도 되고, 다른 날 해도 됩니다.
ㆍPractise counting. Count the people in a picture or ask, “How many pillows can you see? How many toys? How many children?”
세는 것을 연습하세요. 그림 속의 사람들을 세어 보거나 혹은 물어보세요. “몇 개의 베개가 보이니? 몇 개의 장난감들이 있지? 아이들은 몇 명 있지?”
ㆍStart from the back of the book and count the pages backwards from 8 to 2. Ask, “What number comes next?” Practise counting from 1 to 10 and back from 10 to 1.
책의 뒷 페이지인 8부터 2페이지까지 거꾸로 세어 보고 물어보세요. “그 다음 페이지는 몇 페이지일까? 숫자 1부터 10까지 그리고 10부터 1까지 세는 것을 연습해 보세요.
