What’s this story about? (어떤 이야기 일까요?)
The family is at the seaside. They decide to go on the pier. They find lots of things that make them laugh, but when Floopy is allowed to go for a run, it is not quite so funny. He ends up as a very dirty dog!
가족이 바닷가에 있습니다. 가족은 부두에 가기로 결정합니다. 그들은 웃을 수 있는 많은 재미있는 것들을 발견하지만, Floppy가 마구 뛰어 다니는 것은 꽤 재미있지만은 않았어요. 결국에는 Floppy가 매우 지저분하게 변했기 때문입니다.
Talk Together (함께 이야기 해보아요.)
Talk about times when the child has been to the seaside. If the child has not been on a pier, look at the pictures on the cover and on page 6. Explain that the pier stretches out into the sea.
아이가 바닷가에 갔을 때에 대해 이야기 해보세요. 만약에 아이가 부두에 가본 경험이 없다면, 표지의 그림과 6페이지의 그림을 보여주세요. 바닷가에 길게 뻗어 있는 부두에 대해 아이가 이해할 수 있도록 충분히 설명해주세요.
Read the story (책 읽기)
W = Word recognition (단어인지) C = Language comprehension (언어이해)
W: Read the title and the words on the pier. Look at the notices where people are in the way. Guess what the missing letters and words are.
제목과 부두에 표시되어 있는 단어들을 읽으세요. 사람들이 가고 있는 길에 표지판들을 보세요. 어떤 글자들과 단어들이 빠져있는지 추측해 보세요.
C: Page 1, talk about the picture and guess why everyone is laughing.
페이지 1에서 그림에 대해 이야기 해보고 모두들 왜 웃고 있는지 추측해 보세요.
W: Read the words together by sounding out the letters, then check the picture to see if you are right.
글자의 발음을 소리 내서 읽어보고 단어들도 함께 읽어보세요. 그러고 나서 맞았는지 그림을 보고 확인해 주세요.
W: Find Mum and Dad in the picture on page 2. Read all the words together, pointing to each word as you read.
2페이지의 그림에서 엄마와 아빠를 찾아보세요. 같이 단어 하나하나 가리키며 같이 읽어 보세요.
W: Read the words together on pages 4 and 5. Ask the child if he/she knows any of the words in the notices on the wall. Read the notices.
4, 5페이지의 단어들을 함께 읽어보세요. 아이가 벽에 있는 표지판의 단어들을 읽을 수 있는지 물어보세요. 그러고 나서 표지판들을 읽어주세요.
C: Read the last page. Ask, “What could the family do to clean up Floopy?”
마지막 페이지를 읽고 물어보세요. "가족들이 Floppy를 깨끗하게 해주기 위해서 무엇을 할 수 있을까?"

Play a game(게임하기)
Capital letters(대문자)
To help the child to recognise capital letters.
(아이가 대문자에 대해 이해하도록 도와주세요.)
ㆍRemind the child that a capital letter is the big letter at the beginning of names and in the notices on the cover.
아이에게 대문자는 이름과 표지판들의 시작 부분에서 큰 글자라는 것을 기억 할 수 있게 해주세요.
ㆍOpen the book at any page. Choose a capital letter and say “Find a capital ‘M’ or another capital letter that is on the page.
책의 아무 페이지나 펼쳐보세요. 그 중에서 대문자를 선택하고 "대문자 M을 찾아보렴. 아니면 여기 페이지에서 다른 대문자들을 찾아보렴."이라고 말하세요
ㆍThe Child finds the letter, then opens the book at any page and asks you to find a capital letter.
아이가 글자를 찾고 나서 책의 아무 페이지를 펼쳐 당신에게 대문자를 찾아보게 할 수 있게 해주세요.
ㆍHave two or three turns each.
2~3번씩 돌아가면서 하세요.

ㆍLook at the picture on pages 4 and 5 where the family are looking in the mirror. Look at your reflections in a shiny spoon.
Notice how it changes if you turn the spoon over or hold it sideways.
4, 5 페이지의 그림을 보고 가족들이 어디에서 거울을 보고 있는지 찾아보세요. 반짝거리는 숟가락에 반사되는 당신의 모습을 볼 수 있게 해주세요. 숟가락을 거꾸로 들거나 옆쪽으로 들어서 볼 때에는 당신의 모습이 어떻게 바뀌는지 알 수 있게 해주세요.
ㆍDraw a funny person and help the child to cut out the face. Put a photo of a friend behind the cut-out face.
재미있는 얼굴을 그림으로 그려보고, 아이가 그 얼굴을 오려 볼 수 있게 도와주세요. 친구의 사진을 그 오린 얼굴 뒤에 놓아주세요.
