What’s this story about? (어떤 이야기 일까요?)
Biff and Chip are putting on a magic show. They have worked out a way to make Kipper appear as if by magic, by placing him in a small box, then placing a big box and a sheet and rug over the box. Mum, Dad and Floopy watch the trick.
Biff와 Chip은 마술 쇼를 합니다. 그들은 진짜 마술로 Kipper를 사라지게 하는 것처럼 보이려고 작은 상자 안에 Kipper를 숨기고 큰 상자와 이불 그리고 카펫으로 상자 위를 덮습니다. 엄마, 아빠 그리고 Floppy는 마술 쇼를 지켜봅니다.
Talk Together (함께 이야기 해보아요.)
Read the title and look at Biff and Chip in the picture. Ask, “Why do you think they are dressed up? What do you think the trick might be?”
제목을 읽고 그림 속의 Biff와 Chip을 살펴보세요. 그리고 “왜 아이들은 저렇게 옷을 입은 것 같니? 어떠한 속임수가 숨겨져 있을까?”라고 물어보세요.
Read the story (이야기를 읽어 보세요.)
W = Word recognition (단어인지) C = Language comprehension (언어이해)
W: Read the story together, asking the child to hold the book correctly. 이야기를 함께 읽어보고, 아이가 책을 올바른 자세로 책을 잡을 수 있도록 교정 해주세요.
W: Page 1, ask the child to read any words he or she knows. Help him/her to sound out letters in the words ‘rug’: r-u-g. Read the notice and the words together.
페이지 1에서 아이에게 알고 있는 단어를 읽어보게 하세요. 그리고 단어 ‘rug’:r-u-g를 소리 내서 읽을 수 있도록 도와주세요. 현수막에 쓰여 있는 글과 알림 글들 그리고 단어들도 함께 읽어보세요.
C: Ask, “What do you think will be under the rug?
“담요 밑에는 무엇이 있을 것 같니?”라고 물어보세요.
W: Page 2, ask, “What was under the rug?” Read the words, saying the sounds in ‘sheet’: sh-ee-t.
페이지 2를 본 후 “담요 밑에는 무엇이 있었니?” 라고 물어보세요. 단어들을 읽어보고 ‘sheet: sh-ee-t” 으로 소리를 내서 말해주세요.
W: Page 4, ask, “What was under the sheet?” Read and sound out the words.
페이지 4에서 “이불 밑에는 무엇이 있었니?”라고 물어보세요. 그리고 단어들을 읽고 소리 내서 말해주세요.
C: Page 6, ask, “Can you tell what the surprise will be?”
페이지 6 에서 “앞으로 어떠한 놀라운 일이 일어날지 말해줄 수 있니? 라고 물어보세요
C: Page 8, ask, “Were you right?”
페이지 8에서 “아까 네가 생각했던 게 맞았니?” 라고 물어보세요.
W: Ask the child to read the story again.
아이가 다시 이야기를 읽을 수 있게 해주세요..

ㆍOpen the book at any page and read the words. Ask, “What came next?” When the child has said what he/she thinks, turn the page and read the words together.
책의 아무 페이지를 펼쳐서 단어들을 읽어 보게 하세요. 아이에게 “앞으로 어떤 일이 벌어질까?” 라고 물어보세요. 아이가 자신의 생각을 이야기하면, 책장을 넘겨 같이 확인하고 단어들을 함께 읽어주세요.
ㆍThen the child chooses a page, reads it and asks you to say what came next. Look to see if you were right.
그리고 아이가 페이지를 선택하게 하고, 선택한 페이지를 읽고 당신에게 앞으로 무슨 일이 일어날지 질문해보게 하세요. 당신이 맞았는지 확인해보세요.
ㆍHave two or three turns each.
2~3번씩 돌아가면서 하세요.

You can use these ideas straight away, or on another day.

ㆍPlay a memory game. Choose four small toys or everyday things such as a book, a pen, a spoon and a tin of food. Look at and name each thing, then cover them with a cloth. Ask the child to tell you what is under the cloth. If this is too easy, add more things.
'기억하기' 놀이를 해보세요. 4개의 작은 인형 또는 책, 펜, 숟가락, 작은 음식과 같은 것들을 선택하세요. 선택된 각각의 물건들의 이름을 말해주고, 그것들을 천으로 덮어서 가리세요. 아이에게 옷 아래에 무엇이 있는지 당신에게 말해 볼 수 있도록 해주세요. 만약 이 놀이가 너무 쉽다면, 다른 물건들을 더 추가해보세요.
ㆍLet the child dress up and copy the trick that Biff and Chip did. Put a toy in a box and cover it with several cloths. Watch as the child performs the trick.
아이가 Biff와 Chip처럼 옷을 차려 입고 그들이 했던 것처럼 마술을 해 볼 수 있도록 해주세요. 상자 안에 장난감을 넣고 그것을 몇 개의 천으로 덮어주세요. 아이가 마술을 하는 것을 지켜봐 주세요.
