Mum, Dad and the children are picking apples. There is one left high on the tree. Dad and Chip just manage to reach it with a stick. At last the apple falls but Floppy catches it and eats it up.

Read the title and look at the apple on the cover. Ask,¡°Can you think of a way to get it down?¡± Talk about apples and other fruit the child likes or does not like.

W: Ask the child to sound out the letters in ¡®apple¡¯ on the cover.

C: Look at the apple on the first page. Notice its rosy colour and that it looks sweet and juicy. Ask, ¡°What do you think Biff is saying?¡± Explain that a lot of fruit trees together is called an orchard.
