What’s this story about? (무엇에 관한 스토리 인가요?)
Unlike other dogs, Floppy won’t fetch a stick when it is thrown for him. But when Biff loses her hat, Floppy knows just what to do.
(다른 개와 다르게 플로피는 나뭇가지를 던졌을 때 가져오지 않습니다. 하지만 비프가 모자를 잃어 버렸을 때 플로피는 뭘 해야 하는지 압니다.)
Talk Together (다 함께 말해봅시다)
Talk about any dogs you or the child know. Read the title on the cover and talk about the dog in the water. Ask, “Do you think Floppy wants a go?”, “Have you seen dogs playing ‘fetch’?”, “What were they fetching?”
(당신이나 아이가 아는 개들에 대해 이야기해 봅니다. 커버에 있는 제목을 읽어보고 물 안에 있는 개에 대해서 이야기해 봅니다. “플로피가 가기를 원하는 것 같나요?” “물어오기 놀이를 하는 개를 본적이 있나요?” “무엇을 가지고 물어오나요?”)
Read the story (이야기를 읽어보세요)
W = Word recognition (단어인지) C = Language comprehension (언어이해)
W: Ask the child to show you how to read the title by sounding out each letter in order.
(제목을 어떻게 순서대로 철자대로 소리 내어 읽는지 아이가 당신에게 보여주도록 지시하세요.)
C: Look at the first page. Ask, “How can you tell it was a windy day?”
(첫 번째 페이지를 보며 질문해 봅니다. “이날이 바람 부는 날인지 어떻게 알 수 있나요?”)
C: Page 2, ask, “Does Floppy want to chase the stick?”, “How can you tell?”
(2쪽에서 질문해 봅니다. “플로피는 나뭇가지를 따라가길 원했나요?” “어떻게 알 수 있나요?”)
C: Pages 4-5, ask, “What happened when Biff threw the stick?”
(4-5쪽에서 질문해 봅니다. “비프가 나뭇가지를 던졌을 때 어떤 일이 벌어졌나요?”)
C: Pages 6-7, ask, “Why do you think Floppy went in the lake this time?”
(6-7쪽에서 질문해 봅니다. “왜 이번엔 플로피가 호수로 뛰어들었다고 생각하나요?”)
C: On the last page, ask, “What do you think they are saying to Floppy?”
(마지막 페이지에서 질문해 봅니다. “그들은 플로피에게 뭐라고 말하고 있다고 생각하나요?”)
C: Help the child to tell the story again.
(아이가 다시 이야기를 말해줄 수 있도록 도와줍니다.)

Play a game(게임하기)
Same or different?(같은 것? 다른 것?)
To help the child focus on what is the same and what is different in the three large pictures.
(세 개의 큰 그림 중 어떤 것이 같고 어떤 것이 틀린 것인지 중점을 두도록 도와줍니다.)
ㆍChoose two big pictures (spreads), and say, “Show me something that is the same in both pictures,” or “Show me something that is different in these two pictures.” The child might notice that the church is the same, or that the number of dogs in the water is different.
(두 개의 펼쳐져 있는 그림을 고릅니다. 그리고 말합니다. “양 그림에서 중복되는 같은 그림을 보여주세요.” 아니면 “두 개의 그림에서 다른 점을 보여주세요.” 아이는 교회의 그림이 같다는 것이나 물에 있는 개의 숫자가 다른 것을 알아챌 수 있습니다.)
ㆍLet the child ask you to find something that is the same or different in two of the pictures.

ㆍTalk about some dogs you or the child know. What is the same about them? What is different?

ㆍVisit a park and see if there are any dogs being taken for a walk. Are any playing ‘fetch’?
