Dad looks as though he¡¯s concentrating hard. He¡¯s cooking a pancake, and that¡¯s what this story is called-Pancake.
Pancakes are delicious, but they can be tricky to make.
In this story, Dad has quite a lot of help when he makes the pancake. The ending isn¡¯t quite what you¡¯d expect, so we¡¯d better read it to find out what happened.

Dad loves to watch programmes about cooking on television, so when he came to make a pancake, he decided to have some fun. He pretended he was on television. Biff and Chip were used to Dad¡¯s jokes, so they joined in.
¾Æºü´Â ÅÚ·¹ºñÀü¿¡¼­ º¸¿©ÁÖ´Â ¿ä¸®ÇÁ·Î±×·¥ º¸´Â °ÍÀ» ÁÁ¾ÆÇØ¿ä. ±×·¡¼­ ¾Æºü´Â ÆÒÄÉÀÌÅ©¸¦ ¸¸µé ¶§, Áñ°Å¿òÀ» ÁÖ±â·Î °á½ÉÇß¾î¿ä.

¡®The frying pan,¡¯ said Dad ¡®To make the pancake, you need a large pan.¡¯

Chip pointed at Dad. ¡¯But first you need a large cook,¡¯ he laughed.

¡®And make sure he has washed his hands,¡¯ laughed Biff.

¡®Hang on,¡¯ said Dad, ¡®You can¡¯t just tip it in like that. We have to weigh some out.¡¯

¡®The eggs,¡¯ said Chip. Kipper took one and cracked it into the bowl.

Biff poured a little of the milk into the bowl. ¡®The milk,¡¯ she said. Chip began to whisk the mixture.

¡®Meanwhile, Kipper and I will melt some butter in the frying pan,¡¯ said Dad.

¡®Now stand back everyone,¡¯ said Dad. ¡®I¡¯m going to cook the pancake.¡¯

Everyone stood back as Dad heated up the butter on the stove. There was a sizzling noise as Dad poured some of the mixture into the hot pan. Soon the pancake was cooked on one side. ¡®Now to turn it over,¡¯ said Dad.

¡®Stand back even further,¡¯ he ordered.

¡®Oh, no!¡¯ said Biff. ¡®He¡¯s going to toss the pancake. I hope it doesn¡¯t end up on the floor. ¡®
¡®¿À, ¾ÈµÅ!¡¯ Biff°¡ ¸»Çß¾î¿ä. ¡®¾Æºü´Â ÆÒÄÉÀÌÅ©¸¦ À§·Î ´øÁ® ¿Ã¸®½Ç °Å¾ß. ÆÒÄÉÀÌÅ©°¡ ¹Ù´Ú¿¡ ¶³¾îÁöÁö ¾Ê¾ÒÀ¸¸é ÁÁ°Ú¾î.¡¯

¡®Or stick to the ceiling,¡¯ laughed Chip.

¡®The pancake,¡¯ said Dad. ¡®Here it goes!¡¯ and he tossed it high in the air.

Well, Dad didn¡¯t drop the pancake, and he and the children hadn¡¯t made it to eat. They had made it so that Mum could be in the pancake race. Mum ran like the wind with Dad¡¯s pancake. She had to toss it as she ran because that what you have to do in a pancake race.

It was an exciting race. Mum came first, but only just.
