Cover/Introduction
This is a story about what happens when Wilf and Wilma's cousin Kate comes to stay.
Kate helps to decorate an Easter cake with little chocolate eggs. Then Wilma has an idea.
She goes to the park with Dad and hides the eggs for Kate and Wilf to find.
They look everywhere, but they can't find any eggs.
Can you guess where they are?

이 이야기는 Wilf와 Wilma의 사촌인 Kate가 놀러왔을 때에 일어나는 사건에 대한 것이에요.
Kate는 부활절 케익을 초콜렛 달걀들로 장식하는 것을 도와 줍니다.
그런데, Wilma에게 재미있는 생각이 떠올랐어요. Wilma는 아빠와 함께 공원으로 가서 달걀들을
숨겨 놓고 Kate와 Wilf에게 찾아보라고 합니다.
그런데 아무리 샅샅이 뒤져봐도, 달걀을 찾기가 쉽지가 않았어요.
Wilma가 어디에 숨겨놨을지 여러분들이 한번 맞춰 볼까요?

Kate came to stay with Wilf and Wilma. She was really excited.
She had never been away all by herself before.
Kate ran to say hello. She had a big smile on her face.
Wilf and Wilma was please. They liked their little cousin, Kate.
'Here are her things,' said Kate's mum.
'And these are a few of her toys.'
'Don't worry about her,' said Wilma's mum. 'We'll look after her.'
1. Why are Wilf and Wilma pleased?
2. Do you have any cousins? What are their names?
3. What is in the bag that Kate's mum is holding?
Kate가 놀러와서 Wilf와 Wilma와 함께 지내게 되었어요. Kate는 매우 신이 났어요.
왜냐하면, 그 전에는 한번도 혼자 집을 떠나 놀러온 적이 없었거든요.
Kate는 달려와서 인사를 했어요. 그녀는 얼굴에 큰 미소를 띄었어요.
Wilf와 Wilma는 매우 기뻤어요. 그들은 사촌 Kate를 좋아해요.
'여기 Kate의 물건들이 있어요' Kate의 엄마가 말했어요.
'그리고 여기 Kate의 장난감들이 조금 있어요'
'걱정하지 마세요' Wilma의 엄마가 말했어요. '우리가 Kate를 잘 돌볼께요'

There were lots of exciting things for Kate to do while she stayed with Wilf and Wilma.
In a few days time it was going to be Easter, so Mum and Kate made a cake.
It was a special Easter cake. They iced it with green icing and put some fluffy chicks in the middle of it.
Wilf and Wilma watched while Kate put little eggs on it.
She put them all round the edge.
'Fill in the gaps,' said Mum.
'All right,' said Kate.'This is fun.'
1. What sort of cake did Kate and Mum make?

Wilf와 Wilma와 함께 지내는 동안 Kate에게는 여러가지 재미있는 거리들이 많았어요.
몇일 있으면 곧 부활절이 다가오므로, 엄마와 Kate는 케익을 만들었어요.
그것은 부활절을 축하하기 위한 특별한 케익이었어요. 케익 둘레에 초록색 사탕가루로 장식을 하고
중앙에는 폭신폭신한 병아리 장식을 두었어요.
Wilf와 Wilma는 Kate가 달걀 장식을 하는 것을 지켜봤어요.
'빈 틈을 채워 넣어보렴' 엄마가 말했어요.
'알았어요' Kate가 말했어요. '이거 재미있는데요'

'That's a lovely cake' said Wilma's dad when it was finished.
'It looks good enough to eat!'
Wilma had a bag with some chocolate eggs that hadn't been used on the cake.
Wilma looked at the little eggs. Then she had an idea.
'I can use these eggs for...'
Well, can you guess what her idea was? Yes! An Easter egg hunt!
'I'll need Dad to help me,' she thought.

'정말 예쁜 케익이구나' 완성된 케익을 보고 Wilma의 아빠가 말했어요.
'매우 먹음직 스러워 보여!'
Wilma는 케익에 사용되지 않고 남은 초콜렛 계란들이 들어 있는 가방을 들고 있었어요.
'이 달걀들로....이렇게 해봐야지...'

Wilma went to the park. She wanted to hide some eggs there.
Dad went with her.
'This is the very place for the Easter egg hunt' thought Wilma.
'There are lots of places to hide the eggs. Then, when I've hidden them all,
Kate can come and find them!'
So Wilma began to hide the little eggs.
1. Where would be good places to hide the eggs?

Wilma는 공원으로 갔어요. 그곳에 달걀들을 숨겨 놓고 싶었어요.
아빠가 Wilma와 함께 갔어요.

그래서 Wilma는 그 조그만 달걀들을 숨겨놓기 시작했어요.

Wilma put the eggs in as many places as she could.
She put them in the trees. She put them in the flowers.
Dad chatted to a lady who was walking her dog in the park.
It wasn't long before Wilma had hidden all the little eggs.
'Now to get Dad call home on his mobile phone' she said.

Wilma는 여기저기 많은 곳들에 달걀들을 숨겨놨어요.
나무들에도 숨기고, 꽃들 사이에도 숨겨놨어요.

Wilma는 곧 달걀들을 모두 다 숨겼어요.
'자, 이제 아빠한테 핸드폰으로 집에 전화를 걸라고 해야지' Wilma는 말했어요.

At last, Wilf and Kate came to the park with Wilma's mum.
Wilma explained what an egg hunt was. ' You can look for eggs' said Wilma.
'I've hidden them all over the place!'
Wilf was as excited as Kate.
'Let's go, then'she said.
Oh no! None of them had noticed what was happening to all the little eggs.

드디어, Wilf와 Kate가 Wilf의 엄마와 함께 공원으로 왔어요.

'달걀들을 찾으러 다니면 돼' Wilma가 말했어요.
'이곳 사방에 달걀들을 숨겨 놨어!'
Wilf와 Kate는 매우 신이 났어요.
'찾으러 가자!" 라고 Kate가 말했어요.
오 이런! 아무도 그 조그만 달걀들에게 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지 눈치 채지 못했어요.

Kate looked for the eggs. So did Wilf. They looked in the flowers.
They looked in the trees. They looked everywhere. But they couldn't find any.
Kate looked at Wilma.
'You told us there were lots of eggs. Where are they?' she said.
Wilma was puzzled.
'I don't know,'she gasped.'They were here a few minutes ago. It's a mystery.'

Kate는 달걀을 찾으러 다녔어요. Wilf도 찾으러 다녔어요.
그들은 꽃들 사이도 찾아보고, 나무 틈 사이도 찾아봤어요.
이곳 저곳을 모두 찾아봤어요. 하지만, 하나도 찾을 수가 없었어요.
Kate는 Wilma를 쳐다봤어요.
'달걀이 아주 많이 숨겨져 있다고 니가 그랬는데, 다 어디에 있어?' 라고 물어봤어요.
Wilma는 혼란스러웠어요.
'잘 모르겠어' 라며 한숨을 쉬었어요. '몇분 전만해도 여기에 있었는데. 이상한 일이야.'

But then the mystery was solved. The squirrels had them.
Wilma's mum pointed to a tree.
'Look up there,' she said. 'Those cheeky squirrels have taken all the eggs and made a store
of them'
'Those squirrels like eggs,' said Kate. 'They're eating them!'
'It will be a good story to tell your mum,' said Wilf.
1. What had the squirrels done with the eggs?

하지만 곧 그 의문점이 풀렸어요. 다람쥐들이 가지고 있었어요.
Wilma의 엄마가 나무위를 가리켰어요.
'저 위를 봐' 엄마가 말했어요. '저 얄미운 다람쥐들이 달걀들을 모두 가져가서 쌓아두고 있어'
'저 다람쥐들은 달걀을 좋아하나봐요' Kate가 말했어요. '달걀들을 먹고 있어요!'
'너희 엄마에게 얘기해주면 재미있어 하시겠다' Wilf가 말했어요.

Everyone was still laughing when they got home and told Dad what had happened.
'Never mind, ' said Dad. 'I've got some much bigger chocolate eggs for you.'
Everyone was pleased.
Kate began to eat her egg straight away.
'Squirrels like eggs. And so do I,' she said.
1. Why was Kate pleased?

집으로 돌아와 아빠에게 무슨 일이 일어났는지를 말하면서 모두들 계속 웃었어요.
'속상해 하지 마라' 아빠가 말했어요. '너희를 위해 더 큰 초콜렛 달걀들을 준비해 뒀어'
모두들 기분이 좋아졌어요.
Kate는 달걀을 하나 순식간에 먹어버렸어요.
'다람쥐들은 달걀을 좋아해, 그리고 나 또한 좋아해' 그녀는 말했어요. |
