Floppy found something. This is what it was. What do you think it is? This stroy is called 'What is it? , so perhaps the creature that Floppy found is so unusual that none of the children knows what it is.
Floppy 가 무언가를 발견했어요. 이것이 이 책의 내용이예요. 뭐라고 생각하나요? 이 이야기는
'What is it? 입니다. Floppy 가 발견한 생물은 아이들이 그것이 무엇인지 아무도 알지못하는 아주
특별한 것입니다.
1. Can you remember another stroy where Floppy found something that pricked his nose, by the shed? What was it?
Floppy 가 코를 세워가며 헛간에서 무언가를 발견했던 이야기를 기억하나요? 그것은 무엇이었나요?

Floppy loves sniffing around. That's why he likes the park so much. In the park, there are so many things for him to sniff. He loves to run ahead, sniffing the grass with his wet, black nose.
When Floppy finds something, he often barks because he wants to show what he has found to the children.
But one day, Floppy had quited a surprise. Lying in the long grass was something strange. It looked like a banana with lots of black marks on it. Floppy barked, to attact eveyone's attention.
Floppy 는 코를 킁킁거리며 돌아다니기를 좋아합니다. 그래서 공원을 너무 좋아하지요. 공원에는 Floppy 가 냄새를 맡고 킁킁거릴 만한 것들이 많이 있답니다. Floppy는 여기저기 뛰어다니며 그의 젖어있고 검은 코로 풀밭을 킁킁거리는 것을 좋아한답니다. Floppy가 무언가를 찾았을때, 자기가 찾은 것이 무엇인지를 아이들에게 보여주기 위해 자주 짖습니다.
그런데 하루는 , Floppy 가 깜짝 놀랄일이 있었습니다. 길다란 풀위에 누워있는 이상한 것이 있었기 때문이지요. 그것은 검은 반점이 많은 바나나 처럼 보였습니다. Floppy 모든 사람들의 관심을 끌기위해 짖었어요.

But then Floppy had even more of a surprise. He saw that the thing wasn't banana at all, but a creature with four legs and a long tail.It was lying quite still, so even when Floppy barked and barked,it didn't move.
The children were in the park with Mum. 'Keep an eye on Floppy,' Mum had said. So Biff ran ahead to make sure Floppy didn't go too far away.
' Oh, Floppy! What is it? 'said Biff, when she saw Floppy looking at something in the grass.
그런데 Floppy 가 더 깜짝 놀란것이 있었어요. 그것은 바나나가 아니라 긴 꼬리와 네개의 다리를 가진 생물인것을 보았기 때문이지요.그것은 조용히 가만히 있었는데,Floppy가 짖고 또 짖어도 움직이질 않았어요.
아이들은 엄마와 함께 공원에 있었어요.'Floppy에게 눈을 떼지마라' 라고 엄마가 말했어요.
그래서 Biff 가 뛰어가서 Floppy 가 멀리 가지 않도록 했어요.
Biff 는 Floppy 가 풀밭에서 무언가를 보고 있는 걸 보고 'Floppy!그것이 무엇이니? 라고 말했어요.

Biff looked at the yellow and black creature.'What is it? she said. She had never seen anything like it. Biff wasn't sure if the creature would suddenly trun and bite Floppy on the nose. She got hold of Floppy's collar and pulled him away.
By now, the other children were catching up, so Biff called out to them. ' Come and see this,' she called. 'It's something amazing.'
Biff 가 노랗고 검은 생물을 보았어요.이것은 무엇일까? 그녀가 말했어요. 그녀는 그렇게 생긴것은 본적이 없었어요. Biff는 그 생물이 갑자기 돌아서 Floppy 의 코를 물을까 걱정했어요. Biff 는 Floppy 의 줄을 잡아서 끌어 당겼어요. 그때 다른 아이들이 뒤 쫓아왔어요, 그래서 ' 이리와서 이것좀 봐' '정말 놀라운 것이 있어' 라고 Biff 가 그들을 불렀어요.

Wilf looked at the creature. He bent down and looked at it closely. 'What is it? he said. 'It doesn't seem to be moving, but it's still alive. I wonder if it lives in water? Maybe we should take it to the stream and drop it in carefully.'
'I don't think we should touch it until we find out what it is,' said Biff.
Wilf 가 그 생물을 보았어요. 몸을 구부려서 가까이에서 그것을 보았지요? '이게 무엇일까? 라고 그가 말했어요. '움직이는 것 같지는 않지만 아직 살아있어' 그것이 물속에서 사는지 궁금한걸? 만일 그렇다면 개울가에 조심스럽게 데려다 놓아야 하지 않을까?
'그것이 무엇인지 알아내기 전까지는 건들면 안된다고 생각해'라고 Biff 가 말했어요.

Wilma knelt down and looked at the creature closely. She could see that it was still breathing . She wondered if there was something wrong with it.She wasn't sure what the creature was. It had smooth,damp-looking skin. It looked as if it might live somewhere close to water.
'What is it? ' said Wilma.'Is it a frog? '
Wilma는 무릎을 구부리고 그 생물을 가까이에서 보았어요. 그녀는 그것이 아직 숨쉬고 있다는것을 볼 수 있었어요.그녀는 혹시 그것에게 무슨 문제가 있을까 걱정했어요. 그녀는 어떤 생물인지 알 수가 없었어요. 그것은 부드럽고 축축한 피부를 가지고 있었어요. 그것은 마치 물 가까이 어딘가에 사는 생물 같았어요. '이게 무엇일까? Wilma가 말했어요' 개구리일까? '

'What is it? ' said Chip. He bent down and looked closely at the creature.It had a long tail and a narrow head.'Is it a lizard? ' he asked.
'It could be a lizard,' said Wilf . ' But I'm not sure that lizards are yellow and black. I wonder if it's some sort of newt.'
' I don't think it's a newt,' said Biff.
이게 무엇일까? 라고 Chip이 말했어요. 그는 몸을 구부려서 그 생물을 가까이에서 보았어요.그것은 긴 꼬리와 좁음 머리를 가지고 있었어요. 도마뱀이니? 그가 물었어요.
도마뱀일 수도 있겠다. 라고 Wilf 가 말했어요 '그렇지만 도마뱀이 노랗고 까만지는 잘 모르겠는데.
영원의 한 종류인지도 모르겠어.
'영원은 아니라고 생각해'Biff 가 말했어요.

When Mum came up to join the children she wondered what they were looking at so closely.
'Come and see this ' called Biff. ' It's a strange-looking yellow and black creature. We don't know what it is. We don't think it's a frog,or a lizard, or a newt.'
Mum looked at it. She bent down and examined it very closely. ' What is it? said the children.
엄마가 아이들에게 왔을 때 아이들이 무엇을 자세히 보고 있는지 궁금했어요.
'와서 보세요' Biff가 불렀어요.' 이상하게 생긴 노랗고 검은 생물이예요. 무엇인지 모르겠어요. 개구리나, 도마뱀이나, 영원은 아닌거 같아요.'
엄마가 그것을 보았어요.엄마가 몸을 구부리고 가까이에서 관찰했어요. '뭐예요? 아이들이 말했어요.

Very carefully, Mum placed the creature on a big leaf. Then she picked the leaf up with the careature on it. ' It's a salamander,' said Mum. ' It shouldn't be here at all. It's lost. I think it must have escaped from somebody's home. People keep salamanders, but they keep them in special tanks. Salamanders need to be kept warm. We must take this one to the animal hospital.'
' I've never heard of a salamander before,' said Kipper. ' What a funny name for an animal.'
아주 조심스럽게 엄마는 그 생물을 큰 나뭇잎위에 놓았어요. 그리고 그 생물을 올려 놓은 나뭇잎을 집었어요. '이건 도롱뇽이야' 이것이 여기 있으면 안돼는데,길을 잃어버렸나보다. 내 생각으로는 누군가의 집에서 도망쳐 나온게 틀림없어.사람들은 도룡뇽을 키우는데 그것들은 특수한 탱크에 넣고 키운단다. 도룡뇽은 따뜻하게 해줘야 하거든. 동물병원에 이걸 데리고 가야겠다. ' 라고 엄마가 말햇어요.
'도룡뇽이란것을 들어본적이 없어요. 동물이름으로는 정말 웃긴 이름인데요' 라고 Kipper 가 말했어요.

Mum and the children took the lost salamander to the animal hospital. The vet looked at it and said that it needed to fed and kept warm. She put it in a special tank.
'What will happen to it? ' asked Wilma.
' If no one phones up to say it belongs to them, then we'll keep it here,' said the vet.
'Perhaps we can come and see it,' said Chip.
엄마와 아이들은 길을 잃은 도룡뇽을 동물 병원에 데리고 갔어요. 수의사가 그것을 보고 먹이와 따뜻하게 해줘야 한다고 말했어요. 그녀는 그것을 특수한 탱크에 넣었어요.
무슨일이 벌어질까? Wilma 가 물었어요.
만약에 아무도 자신의 것이라고 전화를 하지 않으면 여기에 두도록 하겠습니다 라고 수의사가 말했어요. 그럼 우리도 와서 볼 수 있겠네 라고 Chip 이 말했어요.
