Why do you think the children are excited? Yes, they’re going to they new swimming pool. Mum is taking Biff, chip and Kipper, and she’s taking Wilma and Wilf,too.
C/I 왜 아이들이 신이 났을까요? 맞아요, 아이들은 새 수영장에 갈 것이예요. 엄마는 Biff, Chip, Kipper와 Wilma, Wilf도 데리고 가요.

Soon the children were in the pool. Kipper took a little longer than the others to get in, because he had to wait for Mum to blow up his arm bands.
곧 아이들은 수영장으로 들어왔어요. Kipper는 다른 아이들보다 조금 더 오래 걸렸어요. 왜냐면 엄마가 튜브를 불어주기를 기다려야했거든요.
Biff and Chip, and Wilf and Wilma waited for Kipper in the shallow end of the pool ‘Come on, Kipper,’ called Wilma.
Biff와 Chip, Wilf와 Wilma는 낮은 물인 풀장의 끝에서 기다렸어요. ‘빨리와, Kipper' Wilma가 외쳤어요.
‘See if you can swim towards me.’
‘우리쪽으로 수영해올 수 있는지 보자.’
Kipper didn’t like putting his face in the water, so he sort of hopped over to Wilma, pretending to swim. He kept one leg on the bottom to make sure he didn’t sink.
Kipper는 물 안에 얼굴을 담그는 것이 싫었어요. 그래서 수영을 하는척 하면서 깡충깡충 뛰어왔어요. 그는 한쪽발로 땅을 짚어 가라앉지 않도록 했어요.

The children liked the new swimming pool. All though the day it had different sessions. Sometimes only the grown-ups were allowed in the pool.
아이들은 새 수영장을 맘에 들어 했어요. 그날 다른 세션으로 진행되었어도 말이죠. 어떤때는 어른들만이 풀장에 들어갈 수 있었어요.
That was so they could swim up and down.
따라서 그들은 이리저리 왔다갔다하며 수영을 할 수 있었어요.
Sometimes only mums and toddlers were allowed in. That meant the toddlers didn’t get frightened by bigger children or grown-ups splashing them. But now it was the fun session.
어떤 때는 엄마와 아기들만이 수영을 할 수 있었어요. 그 이유는 아기들이 조금 큰 아이들과 어른들이 튀기는 물에 겁을 먹지 않게 하기 위해서예요. 그러나 지금은 재밌는 시간이예요.
The fun session had big inflatables to play with.
재밌는 세션은 큰 튜브와 함께하거든요.
One of the inflatables was a big fat duck. It had a net over its back, but it was difficult to climb on because it tipped over easily.
큰 튜브중의 하나는 뚱뚱한 오리예요. 등에 그물이 쳐져있었지만 올라가기 매우 어려웠어요. 왜냐면 쉽게 뒤집어졌거든요.
‘Go on Wilma, Get on,’ shouted Biff. So Wilma climbed on the duck.
‘Wilma, 올라가봐.’ Biff가 소리쳤어요. 구래서 Wilma는 오리 등에 올라탔어요.

Wilma hung on to the net. The duck wobbled and swayed a little bit, but it didn’t tip over.
Wilma는 그물을 잡고 있어요. 오리는 흔들거렸지만 넘어지지는 않았어요.
‘Go on Wilf. Get on,’ said Wilma. Wilf grabbed the net and Wilma learned over to stop the duck tipping towards him.
‘Wilf, 올라와.’ Wilma가 말했어요. Wilf는 그물을 잡았고, Wilma는 오리가 Wilf쪽으로 넘어지지 않도록 몸을 구부렸어요.
Then , very carefully, Wilf climbed on.
그리고 조심스럽게, Wilf가 올라탔어요.
The duck wobbled and swayed a little bit, but it didn’t tip over.
오리는 조금 흔들거렸지만, 넘어지지는 않았어요.

Chip was next. He swam over to the duck and grabbed hold of the net.
다음은 Chip예요. 그는 오리쪽으로 수영해 가서, 그물을 잡았어요.
Wilf and Wilma leaned over to stop the duck tipping towards him. ‘Get on,’ said Wilf, excitedly.
Wilf와 Wilma가 몸을 구부려 오리가 Chip쪽으로 넘어가지 않게 했어요. ‘타’ Wilf가 신이나서 말했어요.
Chip climbed on. He climbed on very carefully because the big, fat duck wobbled and swayed a little bit &Chip이 올라탔어요. 큰 뚱뚱한 오리가 흔들거려서 그는 매우 조심스럽게 탔지만 넘어지지는 않았어요.
‘Whooooops!’ said Chip in a wobbly voice. He didn’t feel very safe on the duck. He felt it might tip over at any time.
‘으아악~!!’ Chip이 불안한 소리를 냈어요. 그는 오리 위에 안전하게 앉지 못했어요. 그는 자칫하면 떨어질수도 있다고 생각했어요.
Kipper waved and laughed. He thought this was much more fun than swimming.
Kipper가 손을 흔들며 웃고 있어요. 그는 이것이 수영하는 것보다 훨씬 재밌다고 생각했어요.

Biff was next. She went over to the big, fat duck and grabbed the net, but the duck tilted and tipped.
다음은 Biff예요. 그녀는 큰 뚱뚱한 오리쪽으로 가서 그물을 잡았지만, 오리는 흔들거리더니 기울어졌어요.
‘Whoooops!’ shouted Chip, Wilma and Wilf. ‘We almost tipped over that time.’
‘으아악~!!’ Chip, Wilma, Wilf가 소리쳤어요. ‘우리 거의 넘어질뻔 했어.’
Biff tried again, and, the two boys grabbed her arms. ‘Get on,’ said Chip and this time, with Wilf and Chip’s help, Biff climbed on.
Biff가 다시 도전했어요. 남자아이들이 그녀의 팔을 잡아주었어요. ‘타.’ Chip이 말했어요. 이번엔 Wilf와 Chip의 도움으로 Biff가 올라탔어요.
The big fat duck wobbled and swayed a little bit, but it didn’t tip over. Mum swam over to watch the fun.
큰 뚱뚱한 오리는 약간 흔들거렸지만, 넘어지지는 않았어요. 엄마는 그들을 보러 수영해 그쪽으로 갔어요.

Well, it was Kipper’s turn next. Everyone knew that he would find it hard to climb on the big, fat duck because he was the smallest.
자, 이번엔 Kipper가 탈 차례예요. 모두들 그가 가장 작기 때문에 오리 위에 타는 것이 어려울 것이라는 걸 알았어요.
Kipper hopped over to the duck. The children treid to tip the duck towards Kipper so that they could help him up. ‘Get on,’ said Biff.
Kipper는 깡충깡충 뛰어서 오리쪽으로 왔어요. 아이들은 오리를 Kipper쪽으로 기울여 그가 타는 것을 도와주려고 했어요. ‘타’ Biff가 말했어요.
The duck tilted towards Kipper. ‘Whoooooops!’ said everyone.
오리가 Kipper쪽으로 기울였어요. ‘으아악~!!’ 모두가 말했어요.
‘Come on Kipper,’ yelled Chip.
‘빨리, Kipper.' Chip이 소리쳤어요.
Kipper stretched up his arms and jumped as high as he could. But Kipper couldn’t get on. No matter how hard he tried.
Kipper는 팔을 쭉 뻗고 최대한 높이 뛰어봤지만 아무리 노력한들 탈 수 없었어요.

Wilma had a plan. ‘We’ll have to think carefully,’ she said.
Wilma에게 좋은 생각이 있어요. ‘잘 생각해봐.’ 그녀가 말했어요.
‘Wilma had a plan. ‘We’ll have to think carefully,’ she said.
‘들어봐. 우리가 모두 몸을 구부려 오리를 고정시키면 Kipper를 끌어올릴 수 있을꺼야.’
Listen, if we all lean over and keep the duck steady, we can pull Kipper up.’
아이들은 큰 뚱뚱한 오리쪽으로 몸을 구부렸어요. 그리고 그들은 Kipper를 잡으려고 몸을 낮췄어요.
‘Get on,’ said everyone.
‘타’ 모두가 말했어요.
But the water was quite deep, and when Kipper tried to stretch up he began to sink.
그러나 물은 꽤 깊었고 Kipper가 손을 뻗자, 물에 가라앉기 시작했어요.
‘Oh!’ wailed Kipper. ‘you’re not leaning down far enough.’
‘오’ Kipper가 소리쳤어요. ‘충분히 아래로 내려오지 않았자나.’
‘Come on,’ called everyone, but Kipper couldn’t get on.
‘서둘러.’ 아이들이 외쳤어요. 그러나 Kipper는 갈 수 없었어요.
Kipper jumped and splashed. The duck began to wobble and Kipper’s face got wet.
Kipper는 뛰어보고 물을 튀겨봤지만 오리는 흔들거리기 시작했고 Kipper는 얼굴에 물이 묻었어요.

Suddenly Wilma managed to grab Kipper’s arm. ‘I’ve got him,’ she laughed.
그때, Wilma가 Kipper의 팔을 잡았어요. ‘잡았어.’ 그녀가 웃었어요.
‘Now keep the duck steady and let’s all pull him up.’
‘이제 오리를 고정시키고 그를 끌어올리자.’
‘Get on,’ said everyone, as they pulled Kipper out of the water.
‘타.’ 모두가 그를 물밖으로 끌어내면서 말했어요.
‘Hooray!’ called Mum as Kipper climbed on.
‘야호~!’ Kipper가 올라오자 엄마가 외쳤어요.
The duck wobbled and swayed as Kipper scrambled up the net.
오리는 Kipper가 그물을 기어오리자 흔들거렸어요.
‘Whoooooops! Keep it steady,’ called Wilma. ‘We don’t want to fall in now.’
‘으아악~!! 오리를 고정시켜.’ Wilma가 외쳤어요. ‘지금 넘어지고 싶진 않으니까.’

Then there was a lot of shaking and wobbling. The duck swayed from side to side.
그리고는 오리는 크게 흔들렸어요. 오리는 이쪽저쪽으로 기우뚱했어요.
‘Oh no!’ shouted everyone. Suddenly, over went the duck, and everyone slid off into the water.
‘오, 안돼!’ 모두가 외쳤어요. 갑자기, 오리가 넘어지면서 모두가 물에 빠졌어요.
The splash was so big that nearly everyone in the pool got splashed. No one minded though, it had been such a funny sight.
물이 얼마나 많이 튀겼는지 풀장안에 있는 거의 모든 사람에게 튀겼어요. 아무도 신경쓰지 않았지만, 매우 재밌는 광경이였어요.
Kipper was the first to come out from behind the duck. He had a big smile on his face. ‘Can we do that again?’ he asked Mum.
Kipper가 처음으로 오리 뒤에서 나타났어요. 그는 큰 미소를 띄고 있었어요. ‘또 한번 해도 되요?’ 그가 엄마에게 물었어요.
