| Stage 2 More Stories Pack A - Floppy's bath (Floppy의 목욕)
* Cover/Introduction (겉표지/소개)
When it rains all day long, it’s all right for you. You can stay inside. You can watch television, look at books, play with your toys, make things, help Mum or Dad. You don’t have to go outside in the rain &But it’s different for dogs. Especially big dogs like Floppy. Dogs have to go outside on rainy days, it just can’t be helped.
비가 오는 날도 괜찮아요. 안에 있으면 되니까요. 텔레비전을 보거나, 책을 읽거나, 장난감과 놀거나 무엇을 만들거나 엄마, 아빠를 도울 수도 있으니까요. 원하지 않는다면 밖에 나가지 않아도 되요.
그렇지만 개들은 달라요. 특히 Floppy처럼 큰 개는 말이죠. 개들은 비가 오는 날에는 꼭 나가야해요. 어쩔 수 없는거죠.

Floppy didn’t like going out in the rain, but once he was outside &Floppy는 비오는 날 밖에 나가는 것을 좋아하지 않았어요. 하지만 한번 밖에 나오면 - 그는 그것을 잊으려고 해요.
He sniffed and snuffed his way on to the playing fields on the other side of the stream where there were all sorts of good scents and smells to follow.
그는 온갖 좋은 냄새와 향이 나는 시냇물의 반대쪽에 코를 킁킁거리며 놀이터로 가고 있어요. Floppy를 특히나 흥분하게 만드는 냄새가 났어요.
There was one scent that especially excited Floppy. Can you guess what it was? ‘Grrufff,’ went Floppy, and he began to go quite fast, keeping his nose to the ground as he sniffed his way along over the wet grass.
그것이 무엇인지 생각해볼 수 있나요? '으르렁‘ Floppy가 짖었어요. 그리고는 꽤 빠르게 그는 코를 땅에 대고 냄새를 맡으며 젖은 풀밭을 지나갔어요.
Then he stopped dead in his tracks and his damp ears lifted up in surprise. A little way ahead of him, on the edge of some bushes, Floppy saw a rabbit.
그리고는 그는 발을 멈추고 놀라서 축 처진 귀를 쫑끗 세웠어요. 그의 앞에, 덤불 끝에, Floppy는 토끼를 보았어요.
‘I don’t believe it,’ said Floppy. ‘Rabbits usually see me long before I see them.’

Floppy was right. Rabbits are usually much too watchful and quick to be caught by dogs like Floppy, but this rabbit had been nibbling at some particularly tender young dandelion leaves. It didn’t see Floppy until it was almost too late!
Floppy가 맞았어요. 토끼는 Floppy같은 개들에게 잡히지 않기 위해 경계를 늦추지 않고 매우 빨랐어요. 하지만 이 토끼는 연한 민들레 잎을 갉아먹고 있었어요. 토끼는 아주 늦기 전까지 Floppy를 보지 못했어요.
Of course once it had seen Floppy, it didn’t wait to say, ‘How do you do?’ Not on your life! It turned and ran as fast as it could. And Floppy chased it.
당연히 토끼는 Floppy를 보고는 ‘안녕하세요?’ 라고 말할 때까지 기다리지 않았어요. 어림도 없죠!
The rabbit didn’t like Floppy chasing it, so, suddenly, it went under a fence.
토끼는 돌아서 달릴 수 있는 최대한 빨리 달렸어요. 그리고 Floppy는 쫓아갔어요. 토끼는 Floppy가 쫓아오는 것을 좋아하지 않았어요. 그래서 갑자기 울타리 아래로 지나갔어요.
‘That will stop him,’ thought the rabbit. ‘He won’t want to wriggle through such a tiny gap with all this mud on the ground.’ But the rabbit was wrong.
‘그러면 못 따라올꺼야.’ 토끼가 생각했어요. ‘진흙을 묻히면서까지 저 작은 틈새로 비집고 들어 오려하지 않을꺼야.’ 그러나 토끼의 생각이 틀렸어요.
Floppy squeezed under the fence and chased after the rabbit even faster.
Floppy는 울타리 아래로 비집고 들어와 더 빠르게 토끼를 쫓기 시작했어요.

The rabbit raced across the field towards the stream.
토끼는 들판을 가로질러 시냇물 쪽으로 갔어요.
Then it leaped down the bank and ran through the tunnel that went under the main road.
그리고는 뚝으로 뛰어내려 중심도로 아래를 지나는 터널로 달려갔어요.
Floppy leaped down the bank too and he splashed through the muddy water along the side of the stream. Floppy got wet.
Floppy도 뚝으로 뛰어내려 시냇물의 한쪽을 따라 진흙 물을 튀기며 쫓아갔어요. Floppy가 젖었어요.
He was wet already from the rain but now he got very wet indeed.
이미 비를 맞아 젖었는데 이제는 정말로 완전히 젖었어요.

The rabbit knew it hadn’t far to go before it was safe.
토끼는 안전해지기까지 얼마 남지 않았다는 것을 알았어요.
Once it had gone under the bridge, it ran up the bank on the other side, darted across the grass, and popped down a hole in the ground.
다리만 지나, 토끼는 뚝의 다른 쪽으로 달려가 풀을 가로질러 땅에 토끼굴로 들어갔어요.
‘Oh blow!’ panted Floppy, ‘It’s gone into its burrow. That’s the end of my little bit of fun. Or is it?’ And Floppy began digging so that the hole would be wide enough for him to get into the burrow.
‘오, 안타까워라.’ Floppy가 헐떡거렸어요. ‘토끼굴로 들어갔자너. 이게 나의 즐거움의 끝인가.. 아니면?’ 그리고는 Floppy는 자신이 들어갈 수 있을만큼 크게 굴을 팠어요.
Of course, Floppy got muddy. He was already muddy from going under the fence, and splashing through the mud on the edge of the stream, but now he was very muddy indeed!
당연히 Floppy는 진흙투성이가 됐죠. 그는 이미 울타리 아래를 지날 때, 시냇물의 한쪽에 물을 튀기며 갈 때 이미 진흙을 묻혔지만 이제는 정말 완전히 진흙투성이예요.
Just then, Biff, Chip and Dad went by. They had decided to go out for a walk, even though it was still raining.
그때, Biff, CHip, 아빠가 그 옆을 지나갔어요. 그들은 비가 계속해서 오지만 산책을 하기로 했어요.
‘Oh Floppy!’ exclaimed Biff.
‘오, Floppy!' Biff가 놀라서 외쳤어요.

They took Floppy home, ‘I don’t know what Mum will say when she sees what a mess he’s in,’ said Dad.

There was only one thing to do. Mum found lots of old towels. Dad looked for two plastic aprons.
방법은 한가지였어요. 엄마는 많은 오래된 수건들을 가져왔어요. 아빠는 비닐 앞치마를 두 개 가져왔어요.
Biff and Chip ran the water and they put Floppy in the bath.
Biff와 Chip은 물을 받고 Floppy를 그 안에 넣었어요.
It was the first time they had ever given Floppy a bath and they didn’t know it he would behave himself or not.
이것은 그들이 Floppy를 처음 목욕시키는 것이라 그들은 Floppy가 얌전하게 잘 할지 그렇지 않을지 알 수 없었어요.
‘We’ve got to get all this mud out of his coat somehow!’ said Dad as he lowered Floppy into the bathub. ‘So here goes!’

Then Mum and Dad washed him and Kipper said he would talk to Floppy to stop him from getting too excited.
그리고는 아빠, 엄마는 Floppy를 씻기기 시작했고, Kipper는 Floppy에게 너무 흥분하지 말라고 얘기하겠다고 말했어요.

‘Look at the colour of the water!’ said Mum as they lifted Floppy out of the bath. ‘He certainly needed a wash.’

Suddenly Floppy shook himself. The water sprayed all over the bathroom and all over Mum and Dad. ‘We shall all need a bath at this rate,’ said Dad.
갑자기, Floppy는 몸을 흔들기 시작했어요. 물은 엄마, 아빠는 물론 화장실에 다 튀었어요. ‘이제 우리 모두 목욕이 필요하군.’ 아빠가 말했어요.
After they had rubbed him down with some old towels, they took him down to the kitchen, and Biff and Chip dried Floppy With the hairdryer.
그들이 Floppy를 타올로 닦아준 다음, 그들은 그를 데리고 부엌으로 갔어요. 그리고는 Biff와 Chip이 Floppy를 드라이기로 말려주었어요.
Floppy loved the hairdryer. He lay back with a silly look on his face as Biff brushed his coat.
Floppy는 드라이기를 좋아했어요. 그는 Biff가 털을 빗어주자 뒤로 누워 바보같은 표정을 지었어요.

When they had finished Floppy looked clean. He looked really clean.

‘What a good dog!’ said Kipper.

Floppy couldn’t resist going to see if that rabbit had gone back to finish off those tender dandelion leaves.
