Sometimes, in the summer holidays, one of the grown-ups would look after all the children. Wilf and Wilma¡¯s Dad had agreed to look after everyone and to give them all a treat at the same time.
Can you guess from this picture what he had in mind? This story is called ¡®Monkey tricks,¡¯. Who do you think gets up to tricks in this story? Do you think it¡¯s the monkeys , or is it Kipper?

The children went to the zoo. Wilf and Wilma¡¯s Dad took them. It was a special treat.

¡®I want to see the birds in the aviary,¡¯ said Wilf.

¡®I wonder if we¡¯ll be in time to see the seals being fed,¡¯ said Biff.

First of all they looked at the giraffes. Wilf and Wilma¡¯s Dad explained why the giraffes were tall.
óÀ½À¸·Î ¸ðµÎµé ±â¸°À» ºÃ¾î¿ä. Wilf¿Í WilmaÀÇ ¾Æºü´Â ¿Ö ±â¸°ÀÌ Å°°¡ Å«Áö ¼³¸íÇØÁÖ¾ú¾î¿ä.

¡®They developed that way so that they could eat the juicy leaves at the top of tress,¡¯ explained Dad.
¡®Àú µ¿¹°Àº ³ª¹« À§ÀÇ ÁóÀÌ ¸¹Àº ÀÙÀ» ¸ÔÀ» ¼ö ÀÖµµ·Ï Àú·¸°Ô ¹ß´ÞµÇ¾ú´Ü´Ù.¡¯ ¾Æºü°¡ ¼³¸íÇØÁÖ¾ú¾î¿ä.

¡®They need a very tall house to live in,¡¯ said Kipper.

Dad read out the little notice that gave information about the giraffes. ¡®And let¡¯s not have any jokes about giraffes with sore throats,¡¯ he said.

After the giraffes, they looked at the seals. As Biff had hoped, they were in time to watch them being fed.
±â¸° ´ÙÀ½À¸·Î ¹°°³¸¦ ºÃ¾î¿ä. Biff°¡ ¹Ù¶ó´ø´ë·Î ±×µéÀº ¸ÔÀÌÁÖ´Â °ÍÀ» ¶§¸ÂÃç º¼ ¼ö ÀÖ¾ú¾î¿ä.

On land, the seals made funny jerky, wriggling movements, but when they dived into the water they swam easily and looked graceful.

The children loved the bright black eyes of the seals and their sniffy, twtchy, whiskery noses.

The seals were hungry, and very clever at catching the fish that the Keeper threw them.

Next they looked at the crocodiles. ¡®Wow, they look huge!¡¯ said Biff.

The crocodiles were asleep and, at first, Kipper didn¡¯t think they wer real. They didn¡¯t move.

Next they looked at the parrots, inside the parrot house. The parrots were noisy, calling and flapping their brightly-coloured wings.

It was fun when they looked at the elephants, because one of them was having it¡¯s tusk scrubbed. It seemed to like being cleaned.

The monkeys were quiet to the elephant enclosure, so next, they looked at the monkeys.

One of the monkeys started to make a face at Chip. ¡®Look at that one,¡¯ said Biff.

Suddenly, Wilma¡¯s Dad realized that he hadn¡¯t seen Kipper for some time either.

The children were quite worried. They looked for Kipper and Chip began to call his name. That made all the monkeys chatter in their cage.

¡®He can¡¯t be lost,¡¯ said Biff. ¡®He was with us when we looked at the elephants.¡¯
