* Cover/Introduction (겉표지/소개)
This story has a funny title. It’s called ‘Hey presto!’ That’s a word that conjourors use when they want a magic trick to work. Do you know what a conjuoror is? A conjuror is someone who can do clever tricks. What sort of tricks? Well, tricks that make things appear and disappear.
Wilma’s Dad is looking at a poster advertising Sheena, the conjuror. The poster gave Dad a good idea. An idea for a surprise. Perhaps we’d better read the story and find out what the surprise is. And we can see what Sheena the conjuror can do.
이 이야기는 재밌는 제목을 갖고 있네요. 이야기의 제목이 ‘Hey presto'예요. 이것은 마술사가 마술을 걸 때 쓰는 용어예요. 마술사가 누구인지 아나요? 마술사는 똑똑한 트릭을 하는 사람이예요. 어떤 종류의 마술을 하나요? 음, 물건을 나타나게 하기도 하고, 사라지게 하기도 해요.
Wilma의 아빠가 Sheena라는 마술사의 광고 포스터를 보고 있네요. 그 포스터가 아빠에게 좋은 생각을 떠오르게 했어요. 깜짝 선물에 관한 생각이요. 그 선물이 무엇인지 읽고 알아보도록 해야겠죠. 그리고 Sheena가 무엇을 할 수 있는지도 알 수 있을것이예요.

The children went to a show. Mum and Dad took them. It was a complete surprise for them.
아이들은 쇼를 보러 갔어요. 엄마, 아빠가 데리고 갔답니다. 아이들에겐 완전 깜짝 선물이였어요.
They thought they were going late-night shopping when suddenly Dad said, ‘We’re not going shopping at all. We’re going to a show.’
아이들은 늦은 밤 쇼핑을 가는 줄 알았는데 갑자기 아빠가 말하길,‘우리는 쇼핑을 가는 것이 아니란다. 우리는 쇼를 보러 가는거야.’
Wilf and Wilma were excited. “What sort of show?’ asked Wilma.
Wilf와 Wilma는 매우 신이 났어요. ‘어떤 쇼인데요?’ Wilma가 물었어요.
‘Ah!’ said Dad. ‘That’s a complete surprise, too. And,’ He said, proudly, ‘I’ve got the best seats in the hall. Well, the best seats for this particular show.’
‘아!’ 아빠가 말했어요. ‘이것 역시 깜짝 놀랄 것이란다. 그리고,’ 아빠가 자랑스럽게 말했어요. ‘내가 가장 좋은 자리를 구했지. 자, 특별한 쇼의 가장 좋은 자리다.’
Wilf looked at a poster saying ‘Tonight &Wilf는 ‘오늘밤-마술사 Sheena'라고 쓰인 포스터를 봤어요. 하지만 그는 마술사가 무엇인지 몰랐어요.

Dad was right about the seats. They were in the front row, and very close to the stage. Everyone wondered what the show would be like.
아빠가 자리에 대해 이야기한 것이 맞았어요. 그들은 무대에서 매우 가까운 첫 번째 줄에 앉았어요. 모두가 쇼가 어떨지 궁금했어요.
Wilf already knew a conjuror was in the show and that she was called Sheena, because he had read the poster outside the hall.
Wilf는 마술사가 쇼에 나온다는 것과 그녀의 이름이 Sheena라는 것을 밖에 있는 포스터를 보고 이미 알고 있었어요.
Sheena began the show with a good trick. She had lots and lots of coloured handkerchiefs.
Sheena는 재밌는 마술로 쇼를 시작했어요. 그녀는 아주 많은 색색깔의 손수건을 가지고 있었어요.
She squashed all the handkerchiefs up in her hand. Then she said, ‘Hey presto!’ and when she pulled them out of her hand, they were all tied together.
그것들을 손에 밀어넣었어요. 그리고는 말했어요. ‘수리수리 마수리.’ 그리고는 그녀가 그것들을 손에서 빼자 손수건들은 다 묶여있었어요.
‘That was clever,’ said Dad. ‘I wonder how she did that?’
‘대단한데,’ 아빠가 말했어요. ‘어떻게 했는지 궁금한걸?’

‘Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys,’ said Sheena. ‘I need a gentleman from the audience to help me with the next trick.’ She looked at Dad.
'신사 숙녀 여러분, 청소년분들,‘ Sheena가 말했어요. ’객석에서 저의 다음 마술을 도와주실 남자분이 한 분 필요합니다.‘ 그녀는 아빠를 봤어요.
‘You, sir,’ she said. ‘You look as if you’re a good spot. Now this is quiet painless. All I need , is your tie.’
'당신이요.‘ 그녀가 말했어요. ’재밌는 분 같으신데요. 별로 아픈 것은 아니예요. 제가 필요한 것은 당신의 타이예요.‘
Dad’s tie was very bright and jazzy. Sheena held the tie up to show everyone in the hall. ‘Was this tie a present from someone?’ she asked.
그녀는 무대에서 뛰어 내렸어요. 그리고는 아빠의 타이를 가져갔어요.
아빠의 타이는 밝고 화려한 것이였어요. Sheena는 타이를 들어 모두에게 보여줬어요. ‘선물받은 것이죠?’ 그녀가 물었어요.
Dad nodded. ‘It must have been from someone who doesn’t like you.’
아빠가 끄덕였어요. ‘당신을 좋아하지 않는 사람으로부터 받았군요.’
Then she put it in a bag. Everyone laughed.
그리고는 그녀는 그것을 가방에 넣었어요. 모두가 웃었어요.

‘Now, ladies and gentlemen,’ said Sheena. ‘I need a lady to help me as well,’ she looked at Mum.
'이제 신사 숙녀 여러분,‘ Sheena가 말했어요. ’저를 도와주실 여자분이 필요합니다.‘ 그녀는 엄마를 봤어요.
‘How about you, madam. You look a good stop. You must be, to be married to a man with a tie like that. Now all I need is your ear-ring.’
’어떠신가요. 재밌는 분처럼 보여요. 당연히 그럴꺼예요. 저런 타이를 좋아하는 분과 결혼하신 분이라면요. 자 이제 제가 필요한 것은 당신의 귀걸이입니다.‘
She took Mum’s ear-ring and she put it in the bag.
그녀는 엄마의 귀걸이를 가져가 가방에 넣었어요.
‘You don’t want the ear-ring back do you?’ jocked Sheena.
‘귀걸이 다시 돌려받기 원하지 않죠?’ Sheena가 농담을 했어요.
‘Don’t worry, it’s in the bag with the tie.’
‘걱정말아요. 가방안에 타이와 있으니까.’

Sheena was a very clever conjuror. She took Dad’s watch without Dad even knowing! Now she showed the watch to Dad.
Sheena는 아주 똑똑한 마술사였어요. 그녀는 아빠도 모르게 아빠의 시계를 가져갔어요. 이제 그녀가 아빠에게 시계를 보여주네요.
‘Do you recognize this?’ she asked.
‘이거 아나요?’ 그녀가 물었어요.
‘Hey! It’s my watch,’ gasped Dad.
‘헤이! 그건 내 시계자나요.’ 아빠가 말했어요.
‘How did she do that?’ laughed Wilma. ‘I didn’t see her take the watch.’
‘어떻게 가져갔지요?’ Wilma가 웃었어요. ‘난 시계 가져가는 것을 보지 못했는데.’
‘Nor did I,’ laughed Dad.
‘나 역시.’ 아빠가 웃었어요.
‘Now sir,’ said Sheena. ‘May I brrow the watch for a little while?’ Dad nodded, and she put it in the bag.
‘이제,’ Sheena가 말했어요. ‘시계를 잠깐 빌려도 될까요?’ 아빠가 고개를 끄덕이자 그녀는 그것을 가방에 넣었어요.

‘Now sir,’ said Sheena. ‘You’ve been a good sport so far. Do you want your tie and your watch back?’
'신사분,‘ Sheena가 말했어요. ’지금까지 잘해 주셨는데요. 시계와 타이를 돌려받고 싶으세요?‘
‘I certainly do,’ said Dad.
‘당연히 그렇죠.’ 아빠가 말했어요.
‘Then you’d better look after them while I do the trick,’ said Sheena.
‘그렇다면 내가 마술을 하는 동안 그것들을 잘 살펴야겠네요.’ Sheena가 말했어요.
She took Dad on to the stage and made him sit on a chair. Then she put the bag on Dad’s head and put her hat over the bag.
그녀는 아빠를 무대로 데리고 와서 의자에 앉도록 했어요. 그리고는 가방을 아빠 머리 위에 얹어놓고 모자를 그 위에 올려놓았어요.
‘Would you say your tie and watch and the ear-ring are quiet safe?’ asked Sheena.
‘타이와 시계, 귀걸이가 안전하다고 말하겠죠?’ Sheena가 물었어요.
‘Yes,’ said Dad, who felt a bit silly with the bag on his head.
‘네.’ 머리에 가방을 얹고 있다는 것을 조금 바보같이 느끼며 아빠가 말했어요.
‘They’re in the bag on my head.’
‘그것들은 내 머리 위에 있는 가방안에 있으니까요.’

‘I now need another volunteer,’ said Sheena. She looked down at Wilma.
'이제 또 다른 자원자가 한 명 필요하네요.‘ Sheena가 말했어요. 그녀는 Wilma를 봤어요. ’
‘How about you, young lady,’ she said. ‘Will you come up on the stage?’
‘어때요, 어린 숙녀분?‘ 그녀가 말했어요. ’무대 위로 올라오시겠어요?‘
Wilma didn’t mind going on the stage, because her Dad was already helping with the trick.
Wilma는 이미 아빠가 올라와있었기 때문에 신경쓰지 않고 올라왔어요.
Sheena took a big box. ‘This is my magic cabinet,’ she announced. She opened the front of the box to let everyone see that it was quite solid. Then she put Wilma inside, and shut the door.
Sheena는 큰 박스를 꺼냈어요. ‘이것은 저의 마법상자랍니다.’ 그녀가 말했어요.
그녀는 박스 앞을 열어 모두에게 상자가 꽤 딱딱하다는 것을 알려줬어요. 그리고는 Wilma를 안에 넣고 문을 닫았어요.
‘Are you all right in there?’ she asked.
‘그 안에서 괜찮니?’ 그녀가 물었어요.
‘Yes’ came Wilma’s muffled voice from inside.
‘네.’ Wilma의 작은 목소리가 안에서 들려왔어요.

Sheena는 아빠를 봤어요. ‘이제,’ 그녀가 말했어요. ‘타이와 시계, 귀걸이가 어디에 있다고 생각하나요?’
‘That’s easy,’ said Dad. ‘They’re in the bag on my head.’
‘그거야 쉽죠.’ 아빠가 말했어요. ‘내 머리 위에 있는 가방안에 있어요.’
‘And no one’s touched them since I put them in the bag, and put the bag on your head, under the top hat?’
‘아무도 내가 당신 머리 위에 가방을 놓고 그 위에 모자를 올려놓은 이후로 가방에 손대지 않았죠?’
‘No,’ said Dad.
‘네.’ 아빠가 말했어요.
Sheena took her wand. She tapped the box. ‘Hey presto!’ she said.
Sheena는 그녀의 지팡이를 들었어요. 박스를 가볍게 쳤답니다. ‘수리수리 마수리!’ 그녀가 말했어요.

Sheena opened the door of her magic cabinet and Wilma stepped out.
Sheena는 상자를 열어 Wilma를 나오게 했어요.
Dad couldn’t believe his eyes. Wilma was wearing his tie and his watch, and on her ear was Mum’s ear-ring!
아빠는 아빠의 눈을 믿을 수 없었어요. Wilma는 아빠의 타이와 시계, 엄마의 귀걸이를 하고 있었거든요.
The audience gave a big round of applause. ‘What a good trick,’ everyone said. ‘I wonder how Sheena did that!’
관객 모두 큰 박수를 보냈어요. ‘멋진 마술이야.’ 모두가 말했어요. ‘Sheena가 어떻게 했는지 궁금하군.’
As for Wilma, you can see what she said.
Wilma가 뭐라고 말했는지는 알 수 있겠죠.
‘Hey presto!’ said Wilma.
