* Cover/Introduction
Biff, Kipper and Chip are wearing warm clothes. That's because it's been snowing.
Biff, Chip, Kipper는 따뜻한 옷을 입고 있네요. 왜냐면 눈이 오고 밖이 춥거든요.
What are they looking at? Some footprints in the snow. Look at the footprints. How strange they are? No wonder this story is called Big Feet.
그들은 무엇을 바라보나요? 눈 위의 발자국을 보고 있네요. 발자국을 보세요. 얼마나 특이한가요? 왜 Big Feet라 불리는지 알겠네요.]
<그림을 보며 물어보세요>
1. Have you every seen snow? What does it feel like?
눈을 본 적이 있나요? 어떤 느낌이였나요?
2. What happens when someone walks on snow? What are footprints?

When Chip went outside to play in the snow, he saw something strange.
Chip이 눈과 놀려고 밖에 나갔을 때 그는 이상한 것을 봤어요.
There were great big footprints in the snow.
아주 큰 발자국이 눈 위에 찍혀있었어요.
They weren't ordinary footprints. They were big and they had toes.
평범한 발자국이 아니였어요. 아주 컸고 발가락도 있었어요.
They went past the back door and right round the house, Chip stared at them in surprise.
뒷문을 지나 집을 한바퀴 돌아 나있었어요. Chip은 놀라서 그 발자국들을 바라봤어요.
Chip called out to Biff.'Come and look at this,' he shouted.
Chip은 Biff를 불렀어요. ‘이리와서 이것 좀 봐,’ 그가 소리쳤어요.

1.Hold out your hands to show me how long the footprints are. Show me how wide they are.
손으로 그 발자국이 얼마나 큰지 보여주세요. 얼마나 넓은지도요.
2.Count how many toes marks there are on one of the footprints.

Biff came to the back door. 'What's the matter?' she asked.
Biff는 뒷문으로 갔어요. ‘무슨 일이니?’ 그녀가 물었어요.
'Come and look at this,' said Chip.
‘이리와서 이것 좀 봐’ Chip이 말했어요.
Biff stared at the footprints in amazement. 'What ever are they?' she asked.
Biff도 놀라서 그 발자국들을 봤어요. ‘이것들이 뭐지?’ 그녀가 물었어요.
She tried to imagine what could have made such huge footprints.
그녀는 어떤 것이 이렇게 큰 발자국을 만들 수 있는지 생각해봤어요.
'My goodness!' she exclaimed. 'Is it a big monster?'
‘이런 세상에!’ 그녀가 놀라며 말했어요. ‘큰 괴물이 아닐까?’
'It has strange toes,' said Chip. 'It could be a monster.'
‘이상한 발가락을 가지고 있어.’ Chip이 말했어요. ‘괴물일지도 몰라.’

Biff and Chip called Kipper. Kipper came to the back door. 'What's the matter?' he asked.
Biff와 Chip은 Kipper를 불렀어요. Kipper가 뒷문쪽으로 왔어요. ‘무슨 일이야?’ 그가 물었어요.
'Come and look at this,' said Biff and Chip.
‘이리와서 이것 좀 봐’ Biff와 Chip이 말했어요.
Kipper stared at the footprints in astonishment. 'What ever are they?' he asked.
Kipper는 깜짝 놀라서 발자국을 봤어요. ‘이것들이 뭐지?’ 그가 물었어요.
He tried to imagine what could have made such enourmous footprints.
그는 무엇이 이렇게 큰 발자국을 만들 수 있는지 상상해봤어요.
'My goodness!' he exclaimed. 'Is it a big dinosaur?'
‘이런 세상에!’ 그가 놀라며 말했어요. ‘큰 공룡이 아닐까?’
'We don't think so.' said Biff and Chip. 'Dinosaurs only had three toes.'
‘우리는 그렇게 생각 안해’ Biff와 Chip이 말했어요. ‘공룡은 발가락이 세 개뿐인걸’

They called Mum. Mum came to the back door. 'What's the matter?' she asked.
아이들은 엄마를 불렀어요. 엄마는 뒷문으로 나오셨어요. ‘무슨 일이니?’ 엄마가 물었어요.
'Come and look at this.' said Chip.
‘이리와서 이것 좀 보세요.’ Chip이 말했어요.
Mum stared at the footprints in horror.
엄마는 놀라며 발자국들을 봤어요.
'What ever are they?' she asked.
‘이게 뭐니?’ 엄마가 물었어요.
She tried to imagine what could have made such huge footprints.
엄마는 무엇이 이렇게 큰 발자국을 만들 수 있는지 상상해봤어요.
'My goodness!' she exclaimed.'Is it a big giant?'
‘이런 세상에’ 엄마가 놀라며 말했어요. ‘큰 거인 아니니?’
'We don't know,' said Biff, Chip and Kipper. 'But it would be a funny giant. It has only four toes.'
‘우리도 몰라요.’ Biff, Chip, Kipper가 말했어요. ‘하지만 우스운 거인일꺼예요. 발가락이 네 개뿐이니까요.’

At last the mystery was solved. It isn't a huge creature. No, it is Dad.
결국 궁금증이 풀렸어요. 커다란 물체가 아니였어요.
He made a funny footprints out of wood and fixed them to his feet.
아빠였어요. 아빠가 나무를 다리에 고정시켜 만든 재밌는 발자국들이였어요.
'Oh Dad!' laughed everyone. 'What a good practical joke.'
‘오, 아빠’ 모두들 웃었어요. ‘대단한 짓궂은 장난이네요’
'But why did you only cut four toes?' asked Kipper.
‘근데 왜 발가락을 네 개만 만드셨어요?’ Kipper가 물었어요.
'I didn't cut four, I cut five.' said Dad.
‘네 개가 아니란다. 다섯 개란다.’ 아빠가 말했어요.
Kipper counted them. 'One...two...three...four.'
Kipper가 세봤어요. ‘ 하나, 둘, 셋, 넷.’
'Oh bother!' said Dad. 'I must have made a mistake.'
‘오, 이런’ 아빠가 말했어요. ‘실수 했나봐..’
'It was a good mistake,' laughed Chip. 'We thought you were a monster, a dinosaur or a giant with four toes.'
‘괜찮은 실수였어요.’ Chip이 웃으며 말했어요. ‘우리는 이게 발가락이 네 개인 괴물, 공룡, 아님 거인인줄 알았거든요.’
