Biff spent ages making an aeroplane. Mum helped her a little bit. When the aeroplane was finished. Biff was really proud of it. Everyone went to the park to watch Biff fly her aeroplane but things didn’t go as planned….
Biff는 비행기를 만드느라 시간을 보냈어요. 엄마는 Biff를 조금 도와줬지요..비행기를 완성했을때, Biff는 정말 자랑스러웠어요. 모두들 공원으로 나가 Biff가 그녀의 첫번째 비행기를 날리는 것을 지켜보려고 했어요..그러나..일은 계획대로 되지 않는데요.....

Biff had wanted a model aeroplane ever since she saw a programme about them on tlelvision. She saved up all her pocket money and when she had enough to buy one, Mum took her to a modle shop and Biff bought her first model.
Biff는 텔레비젼에서 비행기에 관련된 프로그램을 보고 비행기를 만들어 보고 싶었어요 ..Biff는 비행기 조립을 살 수 있을 만큼의 돈을 저축하였지요..다 저축하였을 때 엄마는 Biff를 비행기 모델 가게로 데려가 주었고 Biff는 그녀의 첫번째 모델을 샀지요..
‘I want to try and make it all by myself,’ said Biff. She took the kit out and spread the bits and pieces all over the kitchen table.
"난 이걸 오로지 내힘으로만 만들고 싶어.."Biff가 말했어요..Biff는 모든 장비를 식탁 테이블에 펼쳐놓았어요. Biff는 모든 조각들을 조심스럽게 접착제로 붙였어요..
She glued all the bits and pieces together carefully and by the end of the afternoon Biff and made an aeroplane.
오후까지 Biff는 비행기를 만들고 있었답니다.

In the end, Mum helped her because it was quite tricky to paint the aeroplane and Biff didn’t want to spoil it.
결국 엄마가 Biff를 도아줬어요..왜냐면 비행기를 칠하는 데에는 능숙한 솜씨가 필요하고 Biff는 그것을 망치고 싶지 않았기 때문이지요..
Mum suggested that they paint red tips on the wings and put red tips on the tail pieces.
엄마가 날개 끝과 꼬리 끝에 빨간색을 칠하자고 제안했어요..
Biff wanted a red stripe along the body, and that was the hardest of all to do.
Biff는 몸에 빨간 줄무늬를 그리고 싶었지만 그것은 매우 어려웠어요..
Biff carefully painted B1 on the tail fin. ‘The B stands for Biff and the 1 means it’s my first model,’ she said.
Biff는 조심스럽게 꼬리쪽 지느러미(꼬리부분의 날개)에 B1 을 칠했어요.."B는 내이름 Biff의 상징이고 1은 내 첫번째 모델이라는 것을 의미하는거야.."
When it was finished, the aeroplane looked good.
작업이 끝났을 때..비행기는 보기 좋았어요..
‘I think it’s brilliant,’ said Chip as he and Kipper admired the B1.
"훌륭해~~!!"Chip이 말했어요..Chip과 Kipper는 'B1'에 감탄했어요..

The model aeroplane was the sort that you could fly. It had a hook which Biff fixed underneath the nose, and in the kit, was a very long, very strong elastic band.
모델 비행기는 날 수 있는 것이었어요..비행기는 Biff가 코 아래에 맞출 수 있는 고리가 있었어요. 그리고 부품에는 매우길고 강한 탄력있는 밴드가 있었어요..
‘You shoot the plane into the air with the elastic bank,’ said Biff.
"너가 비행기를 공중에 날릴때, 이 탄력있는 밴드를 이용하는 거야.."Biff가 말했어요..
Although Biff wanted to fly it she didn’t think the back garden was a good place. ‘I need a big, open space,’ she said. So, in the end, she went to the park.
biff는 비행기를 날리고 싶었지만 정원은 좋은 장소가 아니라 생각했어요. " 더 크고 열린 공간이 필요해.." 결국 Biff는 공원으로 갔습니다.
‘We want to see it fly as well,’ said Chip, and everyone went along with Biff to watch.
"우린 이것이 잘 나는지 보고싶어.."Chip이 말했습니다. 그리고 모두들 그것을 보러 Biff를 따라 갔습니다.

‘Stand by! Stand by!’ announced Biff as she pulled the elastic tighter and tighter.
"영차.영차.."Biff가 소리를 지르면서 탄력있는 밴드를 조이고 조였어요..
‘Biff One Airlines requests that all passengers fasten their seatbelts.’
"Biff 1 비행기에서 요청합니다. 모든 탑승객들은 안전벨트를 매어 주세요.."
She felt quite nervous as she pulled back the elastic as far as it would stretch. Then she let go. The elastic pinged, and the aeroplane flew up into the air.
Biff는 밴드를 뒤로 끊어질 정도로 당기면서 긴장했어요..그리곤 그것을 놓았지요..밴드가 핑!!소리를 내며 비행기가 공중으로 날아갔어요..
‘Wow!’ exclaimed Kipper. ‘It goes like a bird.’
"와우~~!!"Kipper가 탄성을 질렀어요. "마치 새같은걸~~!!"
The aeroplane did seem like a bird. It went higher and higher. Then it leveled out and flew across the park.
비행기는 마치 새같이 보였어요. 높이 높이 날아갔지요..그리곤 평탄하게 공원을 가로질러 날아갔지요..
‘Oh no!’ said Biff. ‘It’s not going to land in the park. It’s going to fly for miles.’
"안돼~~!!"Biff가 소리쳤어요. "공원 땅으로 날아가지 않고 멀리 날아가고 있어.."
Everyone ran after it. ‘Catch it, someone!” yelled Biff. But it was no good.
모두들 비행기를 쫓아갔어요. "누구든 비행기를 잡아요!!" Biff가 소리쳤어요. 그러나 그렇지 못했어요.
The wind seemed to catch it and carry it up and up. It went over the trees, and flew out of sight.
바람이 불어 비행기를 더 높이 높이 날아가게 했어요. 비행기는 나무를 건너 시야 밖으로 날아갔어요.

the aeroplane flew on, but the wind that had lifted it so high suddenly dropped and the aeroplane leveled out. It went over the houses in the street where Biff and Chip lived.
비행기는 날았지만 바람이 이것을 더 높게 날려버리곤 갑자기 떨어뜨렸어요. 비행기는 멀리 날아가 버렸어요. 비행기는 길가의 Biff와 Chip이 살고 있는 집을 넘어갔어요.
It circled round and round in the air, getting lower and lower.
비행기는 공중에서 원을 그리면서 아래로 아래로 점점 떨어졌어요.
Back in the park , Biff could hardly believe it. She had put so much work into making her very first aeroplane, and within a few seconds, it had gone.
공원 뒤에서 Biff는 이를 믿을 수가 없었어요. 이것을 만드느라 많은 시간을 소비했는데 단 몇분만에 비행기는 사라져 버렸어요.
‘It flew across the park towards the road,’ shouted Chip.
"비행기가 공원을 지나 길가로 날아갔어..!!"Chip이 말했어요.
‘Come on, everyone. Run! Maybe we can see where it lands,’
"모두 이리와..달려!!어쩌면 어디있는지 찾을 수 있을 지 몰라~~!!"
But even though they ran and ran, they couldn’t see where the aeroplane had gone.
모두들 달리고 달렸지만 비행기가 어디로 갔는지 아무도 찾을 수 없었어요..

Biff looked for the aeroplane in the long grass and among trees that went along the edge of the park. Everyone helped.
Biff는 긴 잔디밭과 공원 주의를 둘러싼 나무들 사이로 비행기를 찾았어요. 모두들 도왔지요.
‘Well,’ said Mum, after they had searched and searched, ‘I really don’t think it can be in the park. Maybe it flew a lot farther than we thought.’
"음..아무래도 공원에는 정말 없는것 같아 어쩌면 우리가 생각한 것보다 더 멀리 날아갔을 지도 몰라.."모두들 찾고 나서 엄마가 말했어요.
‘Perhaps it went into somebody’s garden,’ said Chip. ‘It seemed to be heading towards out street.’
"어쩌면 누군가의 정원으로 날아갔을 지도 몰라요.."Chip이 말했어요.."비행기가 우리 골목으로 날아가는 것을 봤어요.."
‘I hope it hasn’t been smashed, or run over by a car,’ said Biff.
"비행기가 부숴지거나 차에 실려 멀리 가지 않았길 바래.." Biff가 말했어요.

They went back home, then Dad and Mum went to all the neighbours and asked if they could look in their gardens in case the plane had landed there.
그들이 집으로 돌아왔을 때, 엄마와 아빠는 모든 이웃집에 가서 혹시 비행기 하나가 정원에 날아오지 않았냐고 물어보았어요.
‘No luck so far,’ said Dad. ‘but we won’t give up. I’ll ask everyone in the next street. Someone’s sure to have seen it.’ But they hadn’t.
"운이 없는걸..그렇지만 포기하지 말아라..내가 다음 골목의 모든 집들에게 물어볼께..누군가가 분명히 가지고 있을거야,," 아빠가 말했습니다. 그러나 그들은 그렇지 않았어요..
Biff looked and looked. She looked for the aeroplane in every place she could think of.
Biff는 찾고 또 찾았어요. Biff는 생각나는 모든 곳에 비행기를 찾으러 다녔어요.
She looked over the fence into the next-door neighbours’ gardens and she searched the piece of rough ground opposite the house, but it was no good. She couldn’t find it.
담을 너머 이웃집 정원도 보았고 집 반대편에 거칠은 도로도 보았어요. 그러나 없었답니다. Biff는 비행기를 찾을 수 없었어요.

Biff wanted to cry she was so upset about her aeroplane.
Biff는 비행기 때문에 속이 상해 울기 시작했어요.
‘Well, maybe someone will find it and let us know,’ said Dad.
"얘야..어쩌면 누군가 비행기를 찾아 우리가 알게 해줄거야.."아빠가 달래보았어요.
‘I’ve been to enough houses for everyone in this part of town to know about it.’ ‘I don’t think I’ll every see it again,’ said Biff.
"비행기를 보았냐고 이 근방 모든 집에 충분히 물어보았어요..""비행기를 다시 못 볼것 같아.."Biff가 말했습니다.
‘I think it’s flown for miles and miles. It may even be in the next town. It may even be on its way to France &"비행기가 아주 멀리 멀리 날아간 것 같아요..어쩌면 이웃 도시 일수도 있고 어쩌면 프랑스 또는 오스트레일리아로 갔을 지도 모른다구요."
‘Then it must have been really well built,’ said Dad. ‘I’m proud of you for making such a good job of it. And I’ll buy you another kit knext time I’m in town. Then you can make a new plane.’
"비행기는 정말 잘 만들어 졌어..너가 이렇게 잘 만들다니 자랑스럽구나..다음 번 내가 시내로 가면 다른 부품을 사다줄께..새로운 비행기를 만들수 있잖니.."아빠가 말했어요..
‘Thank you, Dad’ said Biff. She didn’t want to sound ungrateful, but at the moment she didn’t want another kit.
"고마워요 아빠.." Biff는 아빠의 말에 실망시켜드리고 싶지 않았어요..하지만 다른 비행기를 원하지 않았답니다.
Her first aeroplane had meant so much to her that the thought of making one all over again was the last thing she wanted.
Biff의 첫 비행기는 Biff에게 큰 의미가 있었어요..모두 다시 만드는 것은 마지막이었으면 하는 생각이었답니다.
She went upstairs to her bedroom ‘I just want to be left alone for a little while,’ she said.
Biff는 위층으로 침실로 올라갔어요. "잠시 혼자있고 싶어요.."Biff가 말했습니다.

But when Biff opened her bedroom door, she could hardly believe her eyes. The aeroplane was on the bed.
그러나 Biff가 그녀의 침실 문을 열었을 때 자신의 눈을 믿을 수가 없었어요. 비행기가 침대위에 있었던 거에요~~!!!!!
‘It must have flown in through the open window,’ said Mum after everyone had rushed upstairs when Biff shouted for them to come at once.
"열린 창문을 통해 날아온 것이 틀림없어...."Biff가 모두에게 당장 올라오도록 소리질러 모두가 위층으로 올라온 후 엄마가말했어요.
‘What an amazing thing,’ said Dad. ‘To think the aeroplene should have chosen your bedroom window to fly through.’
"정말 놀라운 일이야..."아빠가 말했습니다. "비행기가 너의 침실 문으로 골라 날아들어 온 것을 생각해봐...!!"
‘I think it made a perfect landing,’ said Biff.
"정말 완벽한 착지 인데요...!!" Biff가 말했습니다.
